Life after PhD with Michal Boháč, entrepreneur and angel investor

O akci

Join us for the upcoming session of the Life after PhD event series. This time, we are excited to welcome Michal Boháč, entrepreneur and angel investor.

"After completing my PhD in Biochemistry, I transitioned into the scientific instrumentation industry, starting as a sales representative at Scientific Instruments Brno, the official distributor for Bruker. In 2008, I received an offer from Bruker Corp. to help establish a local office in the Czech Republic. Over the next nine years, I successfully built a strong, stable Bruker subsidiary for the Czech and Slovak markets. In addition to my sales responsibilities, I was promoted to Regional Manager for Central and Eastern Europe, overseeing sales and service teams across multiple countries.

Customer care and satisfaction have always been at the core of our local sales success, which helped Bruker s.r.o. become the stable #2 in the general Mass Spectrometry market, as well as the clear #1 in MALDI and MALDI Biotyping in the Czech and Slovak markets.

In 2017, I made the decision to leave the corporate world and join an exciting new venture: TRILAB. Founded in 2016 as a “punk” 3D printing project by my friend and business partner, Vojtech Tambor, TRILAB evolved into a serious company when both of us joined full-time in 2017. Over the next five years, we grew TRILAB into a respected B2B 3D printer developer, manufacturer, and solutions provider in the local market. Our primary focus was on B2B delta 3D printers, known for their exceptional print quality, material versatility, and customer care.

In 2021, TRILAB became part of Prusa Research, and my role shifted from CEO to focus on B2B sales and business development. In 2023, I decided to step away from the 3D printing industry and started consulting, crisis management, and angel investing. I’m currently involved in several projects with a personal or social impact. These include the development of tiny houses, called BARACZEK, in the Kralicky Sneznik mountains and the preparation of a multicultural European Dance Center project in Brno.

All of my current projects are driven by a desire for meaningful social or personal impact, but I’m always open to discussing new challenges, projects, and products, seeing myself as an angel investor with a passion for innovation."
